Melika, George–Bechtold, Mária: Oak gall wasps of Kőszeg vicinity (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae)

MELIKA, G. — BECHTOLD, M.: Oak gall wasps of Kőszeg vicinity (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae) Andricus infectorius (Hartig, 1843) [syn: Cynips tinctoria nostras Stefani, 1886, Cynips tinctoria var. nostra Kieffer 1900-01] — Alternate asexual (bud galls on Q. petraea, Q. pubescens and Q. robur) and sexual (catkin galls on Q. cerris only) generations are known. We found only the asexual generation. According DALLA TORRE & KIEFFER (1910) the valid name of this species is Andricus infectoria (Hartig). Andricus inflator Hartig, 1840 [syn: sexual generation: Cynips globuli Hartig, 1840] — Alternate asexual (galls on shoots) and sexual (galls on buds) generations are known on Q. petraea, Q. pubescens and Q. robur. Andricus kollari (Hartig, 1843) [syn: sexual generation: Andricus circulons Mayr, 1870] — Alternate asexual (galls on buds on Q. petraea and Q. robur, more rarely on Q. pubescens) and sexual (catkin galls on Q. cerris only) generations are known. Andricus lignicolus (Hartig, 1840) — Alternate asexual and sexual generations are known. Both forms induce bud galls. The gall of the sexual generation associates with Q. cerris only, while the gall of the asexual generation develops on Q. petraea, Q. pubescens and Q. robur. We found only the asexual generation. Andricus lucidus (Hartig, 1843) — Only the asexual generation is known to induce galls on buds, occasionally on acorns on Q. petraea and Q. pubescens. Andricus malpighii (Adler, 1881) [syn: sexual generation: Andricus nudus Adler, 1881] — Alternate asexual (galls on lateral buds or at the tip of summer shoots) and sexual (catkin galls) generations are known on Q. petraea and Q. robur, rarely on Q. pubescens. Earlier, the valid name of this species was Andricus nudus. Recently, PUJADE-VILLAR & MELIKA (2000) changed the valid name of this species to Andricus malpighiiL. ч Д-|_ч -.;-. •• - :•-=* •>• •-••. •;>•• --л ••••;•• Andricus may ri (Wachtl, 1879) ~ According to the original description of Andricus mayri, this species induces galls on oak catkins and distributed in Central Europe. KIEFFER (1897-1901) described a similar species (Andricus panteli) with a circummediterranean distribution. Andricus panteli(Kieffer) adults and galls are larger in size, and galls develop in buds. According to the examined Hungarian material A mayri induces galls on acorns and/or catkins on Q. petraea, Q. pubescens and Q. robur. Andricus multiplicatus Giraud, 1859 — Only the sexual generation is known to induce bud galls, usually at shoot tips on Q. cerris only. . .. ; . д Andricus paradoxus (Radoszkowski, 1866) — Alternate sexual (catkin galls) and asexual (bud galls on of previous year's shoots) generations are known on Q. petraea, Q. pubescens and Q. robur. . с -. Andricus polycerus (Giraud, 1859) — Only the asexual generation is known to induce bud galls on Q. petraea, Q. pubescens and Q. robttr. Andricus quercuscalicis (Burgsdorf, 1783) — Alternate asexual (acorn galls on Q. robur) and sexual (catkin galls on Q. cerris only) generations are known. AMBRUS (1974) mentioned the asexual galls from Q. petraea and Q. pubescens, however, these records must be confirmed. 120
