VIG, Károly: Leaf beetles of Kétújfalu and Teklafalu (Baranya county, Southern Hungary) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae)
PRAENORICA FOLIA HISTORICO-NATURALIA XI 2009 LEAF BEETLES OF KÉTÚJFALU AND TEKLAFALU (BARANYA COUNTY, SOUTHERN HUNGARY) (COLEOPTERA: CHRYSOMELIDAE) Károly VlG 1 Leaf beetles of Kétújfalu and Teklafalu (Baranya County, Southern Hungary) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) — A list of 142 leaf beetle species recorded from the area around Kétújfalu and Teklafalu (Baranya County, Southern Hungary) is presented. Faunistical notes on Euluperus xanthopus (Duftschmid, 1825); Longitarsus brisouti Heikertinger, 1912; Apteropeda orbiculata (Marsham, 1802); Cassida atrata Fabricius, 1787 and Cassida aurora Weise, 1907 are given. INTRODUCTION From coleopterological point of view the territory of the southern part of Baranya County was a "white spot" on the faunistical map of Hungary so far. In the seventies and eighties of the last century systematic collecting were made at the territory by Sándor HORVATOVICH, who presented data of rare and for the Hungarian fauna new beetles collected there (HORVATOVICH 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982). He recorded Eupales ulema (Germar, 1813) from the Villány Hills (HORVATOVICH 1982); no other leaf beetle was mentioned from Southern Baranya. József SÁR (1993) enumerated 198 beetles collected by barking but, however, only one leaf beetle species was gathered by this way. Additional leaf beetle data have appeared in other short publications (SÁR 1992, 1995; SÁR 2004). Considering these facts, it is not surprising that there has been no summary account of the leaf-beetle species of the area. This study presents a list of 142 leaf beetle (Chrysomelidae) species recorded from the area around Kétújfalu and Teklafalu (Baranya County, Southern Hungary). The account is based on a material (deposited in the Janus Pannonius Museum, Pécs and Savaria Museum, Szombathely) collected mainly by József SÁR and his son, Péter SÁR and on the above mentioned literature sources. The bulk of the beetle material available is a result of József SÁR'S research. 1 Savaria Museum, Natural History Collection H-9700 Szombathely, Kisfaludy S. u. 9., Hungary e-mail: nathist@savariamuseum.hu
