Róbert Keményfi: The Organization of Groups in the Society 1. A Part of a Chapter in the Hungarian Ethnographical Encyclopaedia The bilingual - Hungarian and English - Hungarian Ethnographical Encyclopaedia, edited by Balázs Balogh and Balázs Boros, is going to be published jointly by the Publishing House of the Hungarian Academy and the American-German Walter de Gruyter Verlag. Within the constraints of its size, the encyclopaedia, with a high number of contributors, intends to provide an overall picture of the characteristic features and social structure of Hungarian popular culture. To attain that goal, the authors of the individual chapters are expected to write about their respective topics in a comprehensive way, summing up the most important features in a language easily understandable also to the layman. Out of the various social groups discussed in the encyclopaedia, the article above deals with farmers, shepherds and the so-called "transitional" strata of society.
