Oxána V. Bobrovskaia: Belt amulet sets in the female costume of the Cherniakhov Culture

can play the role of independent chronological indicators for this period of the Cherniakhov Culture. In terms of absolute chronology, they can be dated to the middle - third quarter of the 4 th c. This date is supported by the logic of numerous archaeological and historical facts. As we have pointed out above, the character of the arrangement of the cultic sets depended primarily on the supply of the market. The production of bone pyramidal pendants was carried out in the territory of the Cherniakhov Culture itself. This is supported by the findings of semi-manufactured products among the materials of bone processing workshops in Bîrlad-Valea Seacä in Moldova (Romania) and in Velika Snitynka in the Kiev region. The significant demand for bone pendants is evidenced by the mass and standardized handicraft production and reflected in the character of the objects themselves: constant shape and proportions, insignificant variance in size, unity of ornamentation (PALADE 1981, MAGOMEDOV 1992). Mollusk shells of the mentioned species were almost certainly brought by trading caravans to the Pontic or Danubian markets from their habitation sites in the basins of the Red and Mediterranean Seas (MAGOMEDOV 1990,418). This is supported by the concentration Fig. 1 Map of bone pyramidal pendants, and pendants made of Cypraea panterina and Bolinus brandaris shells and animal tusks in the burials of the Cherniakhov Culture of the third quarter of the 4 th c: 1: Sad, 2: Lokhvica, 3: PereiaslavKhmelnitski, 4: Zhovnin, 5: Kompanijtsy, 6: Cherniakhov, 7: Romashki, 8: Maslovo, 9: Novo-Alexandrovka, 10: Privolnoe, 11: Gavrilovka, 12: Skitka, 13: Kosanovo, 14: Berezhanka, 15: Cherneliv-Russki, 16: Romanove Selo, 17: Uvisla, 18: Ridkoduby, 19: Ruzhichanka, 20: Odaia, 21: Vily Iarugskie, 22: Koblevo, 23: Nadusita (Gribovo), 24: Lazo (SloboziaChiccäreni), 25: Brâviceni, 26: Petreçti, 27: Dänceni, 28: Bältata, 29: Budeçti, 30: Belen'koe, 31: Furmanovka, 32: Nagornoe II, 33: Miorcani, 34: Letcani, 35: Bogdäne§ti-Fälciu 36: Tîrgçor, 37: Indepen|a, 38: Spantov, 39: Curcani, 40: Cäscioarele, 41: Marosszentanna/Sîntana-de-Mures
