The aeroplane arrived from Budapest to Nyíregyháza at 10.40 a.m. and departed back to the capital at 12.05 p.m. The passenger plane regularly transported postal items, that is how Nyíregyháza became the part of the Hungarian air mail traffic. The first plane arrived to the Nyíregyháza airport on June 15Ih 1931. Airmail items arriving to Nyíregyháza on the opening day with the “starting route” and the ones transported to Budapest were the authentic witnesses of this event significant both from the aspect of the Hungarian airmail transportation and of the life of the county seat. The author would like to contribute to the memory and preservation of this notable day representing some first day airmail documents from this collection (picture card, postal cards, letter). He would also like to show that in our day philately became the auxiliary science of - mainly Modern Age - history (nobody have doubted such role of numismatics for a long time).
