were relatively cheap, people who ordered and bought such memorial objects had high income. They must have been members of the professional or reserve officer corps, rather than simple soldiers or professional junior officers.

Among the six cigarette cases kept in the collection preserved the memory of the following events. One piece: cavalry officers’s course in Nyíregyháza (1926—27); two pieces: Nyíregyháza hussar reserve officers’ school in Budapest (1928-29, 1929—30); one piece: occupation of Transylvania (1940); one piece: Ukrainian campaign (1941); one piece: a wounding (1944).

Six cigarette cases were made of 800-fine silver. We do not have exact data on the producers. There is much more information on the more than 50 professional and reserve hussar officers mentioned on the cases. This study gives their short biographies.
