These can add useful data to our knowledge on some folk decoration style or type of objects, help to solve certain problems of ethnographical research. Among such objects of special value, we can mention a bride's chest collected in Nyíregyháza in 1984. This piece dated to 1776 (inv.no. 85.2.1), was decorated with tulips. Judging from its style features it was produced in a Komárom carpenter workshop. On the basis of my ethnographic fieldwork experience, this chest belonged to a Hungarian family from Slovakia settled in Nyíregyháza in the course of the population exchange in 1947^8. This painted chest was used mainly for storing the trousseau. It also served as the decorative piece of furniture of the so called „clean room" (living room used only at special occasions).
