Történelem - Ulrich Attila: A coin find from Kisléta

A kislétai éremlelet A coin find from Kisléta In 2003 a hoard consisting of 320 pieces, was found near Kisléta. The starting date of the find is given by a Prussian Grosche (Albert) of 1533, the closing date is 1692. So, the hoard could be hidden in 1692 as the earliest. The circumstances of the hiding can be explained by the passing of the imperial troops through Szabolcs county. It was the time of reconquering several Transylvanian territories from the Turks. The majority of the 320 coins is made by thaler type mints, there are 109 (34.38%) thalers, 2/3 thalers (guldiners) and 1/3 thalers in the find. The rest of the mints consists of small coins of less value. They are mostly issued by the Polish Kingdom (134 pieces - 41.87%). Among Polish mints we find less frequent, and above mentioned, forints of 30 Groschen, orts of 18 Groschen and, in a great number, 6 Groschen and polturas. Hungarian coins are relatively rare in the find: a total of 36 pieces (11.25%). Their majority is made by Leopold I's 15 Kreuzers. The percentage of small coins of different countries is very variable, because beside of the above mentioned Polish and Hungarian coins, also Austrian, Czech, Silesian and Prussian money was found in Kisléta. The Kisléta hoard is a typical late-17 th century find and represents, on the first hand, the money circulation of North-eastern Hungary at the end of the 1600s. The scientific value of the hoard is very significant, because these coins justify the money circulation of not only Szabolcs county, reconstructed on the basis of contemporary sources, but also that of the territories headed by the Szepes Chamber.
