OECOLOGICAL PROBLEMS OF THE LIMOSA LIMOSA L. AFTER THE CHANGES OF LANDSCAPE IN HUNGARY The work deals with the fluctuation of the Limosa limosa L. in Hungary. There is a statistical list of the separate colonies in it establishing that the large-scale canalizations led to a general diminishing in the stock of this bird. At the same time, however, just in the vicinity of certain riceswamps, as a result of the drawing of these paludal vegetation so rich on food, there is also some increasing observable. Of analysis of gastric contents — each of these tests applied by the author — is beyond doubt that the Limosa limosa L. takes a prominent part in the biological defending of hay-fields and rice-plantations. It's true that on rice-fields of fresh sowing and irrigation, in want of other food, it picks up also the seed-grain for a short time but this damage — possible even in the worst case not for more than a few days — can be prevented with ease. This species is of economical and zoological value worthy of protection by all accounts. I. Sterbetz ЭКОЛОГИЧЕСКИЕ ПРОБЛЕМЫ Limosa limosa L. В ЗЕРКАЛЕ ИЗМЕНЕНИЙ ЛАНДШАФТА В ВЕНГРИИ Статья занимается колебаниями популяции Limosa ürnosa' L. в Венгрии. Дано статистическое перечисление отдельных колоний и заключено, что в результате больших канализационных работ последовало общее сокращение состава. В то же время в окрестностях некоторых рисовых плантаций, благодаря притяжению этой высокопитательной палударной культуры в последнее время наблюдается и некоторый прирост популяции. По результатам анализа содержания желудка установлено, Limosa limosa L. играет значительную положительную роль в биологической защите лугов и рисовых полей. Хотя на недавно засеянных и затопленных посевах риса она, не имев другой пищи, вынимает и рисовые семена, но эта возможность причинения вреда посеву в течение нескольких дней может быть легко устранена. Этот вид птиц является ценным хозяйствен ным и зоологическим объектом, который заслуживает безусловной охраныI. Sterbetz 218
