Somogyi Krisztina: Előzetes jelentés a Kaposvár – 61-es elkerülő út 29. számú lelőhelyén, Kaposújlak-Várdomb-dűlőben 2002-ben végzett megelőző feltárásról

178 Preliminary report on the preceding excavation of site number 27. of the Route 61. encircling Kaposvár KRISZTINA SOMOGYI Site 27 is situated North from Kaposujlak, on the plateau and western slope of a party emphasized N-S directed hill, which runs steep into the Hetesi canal. We excavated 81 objects on the 14050 m 2 in the spring of 2002, which were rather scattered in a NE-SW direction. The majority of the objects (56) are from the Copper-Age — out of which 16 pits contain finds from the Furchenstich Ceramic Period. The most interesting object was a circular furnace, 70 cm in diameter, where the lower section of its wall was burnt grey and hard. It can be presumed that it was used as a foundry. Three skeletons, situated at the western edge of the site also belonged to this Copper-Aged settlement. One of the burials contained 3 limestone beads as well. Pits, open furnaces can be dated to the remains of the Árpád-aged settlement, together with the quadrangular and circular ditches. The importance of the site is centred on the fact, that it is one of the greatest settlements of Furchenstich Ceramic.
