The Rippl-Rónai Museum of Kaposvár commemorates Dr. Róbert Martyn with gratitude, who died in 1999 at the age of 95, and who presented the furniture and other personal articles from József Rippl-Rónai's Róma-mountain home to the Museum. Lately, from the legacy entrusted on the family, a seemingly empty trunk was found, which contained a sketchbook used by József Rippl-Rónai during his travels. The Martyn family presented the sketchbook to the Museum. The French school exercise book contained 30 pencil sketches from Rippl-Rónai. From the notes written by the artist, it became evident that the drawings were prepared in July. 1914. in France, in Issy L'Evéque, the birthplace of Lazarine Baudrion, Rippl-Rónai's wife, and of his stepdaughter, Anette Paris. 1. 16. U.o. 68.I. A tanulmányban közölt francia nyelvű dokumentumokat fordította: dr. Farkas József supposed to be a German spy by the local people, and he was roughly attacked. Rippl-Rónai had to hide in the house of his hosts, then after a few weeks, according to state measures, he was accompanied to an internment camp. During the few months' long imprisonment the artist permanently drew and painted. He drew the relatives, the prisoners of the internment camp and the military mobilisation seen from the window. From his works, in 1915, the Ernst Museum in Budapest opened an exhibition with the title „The wartime paintings and drawings of József Rippl-Rónai." Among the material of this exhibition many drawings shown were torn from the exercise book found now. The wife of the artist received this sketchbook as a memento, which contained drawings of many of her relatives from Issy L'Evéque seen long ago.
