318 TÓTH SÁNDOR SÁNDOR TÓTH: DATA TO THE FAUNA OF HOVER FLIES OF THE ZSELIC (Diptera: Syrphidae) Resume The author started to study the Diptera fauna of the Zselic in the second half of the 70s, within the frames of a project called „The Nature Landscape of Mecsek Mts. and environs" and continued the examinations for 10 years. Before the researches were started the Zselic had been a white spot as far as hover flies are concerned. Today, however, it can be said well-known because the 110 species collected on this territory compose one-third of the Hungarian Syrphydae fauna. The study is based on the analysis of the 3750 specimens of the Diptera Syrphidae collected in the Zselic. The species found in the biggest quantity are shown in the chart - their proportion is over 2%. The first 5 of the most important ones are shown in a cirle diagram. The biggest quantity is represented by Eoseristalis arbustorum (9,7%), which is one of the most frequently occuring species in Hungary. In the sample collected on this area there is a relatively big number of species which occur rarely in Hungary (Criorhina ranunculi Panz., Cheilosia chrysocoma Meig., Merődön equestris Fabr., Sphaerophoria batava Goldl. etc.) Of the above listed the most interesting is perhaps Criorhina ranunculi Panz., which could be found only in the Bakony and Zselic areas so far. This species is a rare one in the whole of the Karpatian basin, a few more localities are also known in Szlovákia, apart from Hungary. Probably it is a montanic entity, the presence of which in the Zselic supports the more or less mountainous feature of the area. The analysed Diptera Syrphidae sample comes from 22 concrete stations of the Zselic. The most explored of them is Ropolypuszta. The list of the collecting places contains the letter and number code related to their place in the UTM netmap, as well as the settlement which the collecting place administratively belongs to. The data part of the study list the occurance data of the whole material in details.
