Horváth Szilvia - Kiss Magdolna: Pannoniai fürdőkalauz - Római fürdőkultúra, gyógyfürdők Pannoniában. Beharangozó

PANNÓNIA! FÜRDŐKALAUZ - RÓMAI FÜRDŐKULTÚRA, GYÓGYFÜRDŐK PANNÓNIÁBAN. BEHARANGOZÓ 131 Reményeink szerint a Pannóniái fürdőkalauz nemcsak a tudományos kutatásban tölt be hiánypótló szerepet, nemcsak az ókori világ tudományos kutatói, hanem a fürdő- és egészségturizmussal foglalkozók, a beruházók és a fürdők közönségének érdeklődését egyaránt felkelti. Utere felix vivas Pannonian Bathing Guide - Roman Bathing Culture, Thermal Baths in Pannonia. Precursor SZILVIA HORVÁTH - MAGDOLNA KISS Offered here is a brief preview of a book scheduled for publication in the near future. The book, Guide to the Baths of Pannonia, is a joint publication by the Rippl-Rónai Museum of Kaposvár and GeniaNet Publishing, scheduled to appear in 2019. The authors, Szilvia Horváth and Magdolna Kiss, have studied the Roman-period antecedents and remains of the baths of the province of Pannonia, which in addition to modernTransdanubia, also incorporated part of Slovenia, Croatia and Austria (Burgenland) - the book summarizes their research conducted since the early 2000s in an academic format also intended for the broader public with lavish illustrations. The authors took a complex approach to their subject and strove for a synthesis of the written sources and the archaeological record. The springboard was the mapping of the medicinal springs in the region that issued without any human intervention because it seemed likely that these had been known to the human communities settling here during the ages and thus to the Romans too. Following the cataloguing of the springs in Pannonia, they examined whether the Romans or the native populations of the Roman period had known of these springs and whether they had exploited them for drinking, bathing or healing purposes, and whether there were any traces of spring cappings or of any other Roman activity in a particular area. The book covers the salient traits of Roman bath architecture and bathing culture, then moves on to the Pannonian examples. The next part deals with the sources and methods of studies on thermal baths, followed by the core of the book, the catalogue. The final section discusses medicinal tourism in Antiquity and its main features, followed by a comparison between the characteristic traits of Pannonia set against the broader tableau of the Roman Empire, rounded off by a section on how the bathing culture of Antiquity ended and its afterlife. The book ends with the Appendices (maps, an epigraphic table, a glossary on the baths, bathing life and the epigraphic table) and the bibliography. Források Caesar: C. lulius Caesar: Bellum Gallicum.
