PURGER In the region near Drava river in country Somogy (XM42, XM52, XM62, XM61, XM71, XM70, ХМ 80, XL89, XL99, YL09 and YL08 according 10x10 km UTM grid) from 35 localities during 1994, 1995 and 1996, barn owl pellets were collected. Localities were church towers and balks in 14 cases (40%), stables in 9 cases (26%), and other buildings in 12 cases (34%). In total of 2180 barn owl pellets 7530 were prey remnants (3,45 was the prey per pellet ratio). Small mammals were dominating (98,5%). Remnants of birds, amphibians and insects consisted 1,5% of total prey. Mammal prey consisted of Soricidae (Sorex araneus, Sorex minutus, Neomys fodiens, Neomys anomalus, Crocidura suaveolens, Crocidura leucodon) 42,76%, Talpidae (Talpa europaea) 0,03%, Vespertilionidae (Myotis myotis, Myotis nattereri, Plecotis austriacus, Eptesicus serotinus) 0,13%, Arvicolidae (Clethrionomys glareolus, Arvicola terrestris, Microtus agrestis, Microtus arvalis, Pitymys subterraneus) 35,94%, Muridae (Apodemus flavicollis, Apodemus sylvaticus, Apodemus agrárius, Micromys minutus,Rattus norvégiens and specimens belonging to genus Apodemus, Rattus, and Mus) 20,79%, and Myoxidae (Myoxus glis, Muscardinus avellanarius) 0,35%.
