(1998) Investigations of the Rotatoria and Crustacea fauna in various waters of the Duna (Danube)-Dráva National Park Sándor KÖRMENDI The quantitative study of rotifers and water fleas in 23 water samples collected during 1997 yielded 25 species of Rotatoria and 19 species of Cladocera. The results of a quantitative study of the Copepoda fauna will be covered in another paper. Most of the species found are cosmopolitan ones with a wide ecological valency and usually with a b-mesosaprobic sapro-biological indication. A few species (Moina macrocopa, Daphnia pulex, Brachionus calyciflorus, Brachionus rubens), though, indicate a- or a-ß-mesosaprobic ranges. Based on specimen numbers, the following dominance relations were found to occur in the various waters: Dráva, Barcs: Cyclopoida sp. - Bosmina longirostris; occasionally: Keratella quadrata and Filinia longiseta (31. Aug.). Rinya, Babócsa: Bosmina longirostris - Cyclopoida sp. (J uv-) Backwater of river Dráva, Kisbók: Bosmina longirostris - Cyclopoida sp.; occasionally Moina micrura (13. June), Brachionus diversicomis (23. July), Asplanchna brightwelli (31. Aug.). Alder grove, Komlósd: Daphnia pulex - Cyclopoida sp. The relatively low number of samples having been processed does not allow a wellfounded evaluation. Our further aim is to carry out water-chemical studies in addition to the plankton fauna analyses of more frequently taken samples from characteristic waters of the Duna (Danube)-Dráva National Park, Besides an accumulation of faunistic and population dynamical data, this will yield information about changes in the biological quality of waters in the region.
