Contribution to the knowledge of beetle fauna (Coleoptera) of Béda-Karapancsa landscape protection area, South Hungary József SÁR The author lists 134 species of 28 coleoptera families in the present paper from the territory of the Béda-Karapancsa landscape protection area. Up to now there was no publication giving data to the beetle fauna of the region. The applied methods were adopted to the enviromental circumstances, thus the larger part of the material was collected with singling and barking. This paper publishes mainly the data of the species developing and hibernating in decaying wooden materials. The occurence of two species is very significant in the fauna of the landscape protection area: Eurythyrea aurata (Pallas) and Xylophilus testaceus (Herbst.) both are very sporadic in Hungary. The habitat Nagyrét near Kölked and its surroundings is strongly influenced by negativ anthopogenic factors. The habitats of the most interesting coleoptera species can only be preserved by the conservation of the original conditions of the gallery forests where large percentage of the forests consists of very old standing timbers.
