62 Natura Somogyiensis Description of the new species Ferna soppongensis spec. nov. (Figs 1,2 and 3) Holotype: male, Thailand, Mae Hong Son prov., Soppong, 1500 m, 07-12. 05. 1995, 19° 27' N 98° 20' E, Leg. S. Becvar. Head black, white: inner orbit and total face including palpi and mouthparts (except apices of mandibles) below supraantennal pits entirely white. Antenna black. Thorax black, white: tegula, parpateron and horizontal band on mesopleuron projecting up to parapteron and small spot on mesoscutellum. All coxae, trochanters and femora white, all tibiae and tarsi yellow. Wings hyaline, costa, subcosta, stigma and veins blackish brown. Abdomen black above, yellow below except last 2 black stemites. Length of gena : diameter of anterior ocellus: 2 : 7. Ratios of antennal segments: 10 : 9 : 34 : 41 : 32 : 25 : 21 : 20 : 20. Antenna about as long as head, thorax and first 3 abdominal segments combined. OOL : POL : OCL: 14 : 7 : 17. Head smooth and shiny. Frontal area marked above by deep furrows. Clypeus roundly emarginated. Clypeal emargination about 0.4x as deep as clypeal median length. Postoccipital carina not visible. Median fovea deep and wide, suboval, reaching anterior ocellus. Thorax smooth and shiny. Abdominal tergites smooth and shiny. Claw without basal lobe. Subapical tooth of claw about half as long as apical. Length: 5.8 mm. In Saini 2006, the new species runs to Ferna dutti M.S. Saini & Vasu, 1997. The new species is related to F. dutti, however, the hind and ventral margines of penis valve clearly differentiate the new species from F. dutti. Compare Fig. 2 and Fig. 529 in Saini 2006. The white spot on mesopleuron, the relatively larger size and the large wide median fovea differentiate the new species from Ferna brevis M.S. Saini & Vasu, 1997 and Ferna pupa M.S. Saini & Vasu, 1997. The new species also resembles to Ferna centralis Wei, 2002. Differences: in the new species, the strongly bulging ventral side of penis valve far overprojecting the short apical spin, in Ferna centralis the long apical spin overprojecting the only slightly bulging ventral margin of penis valve. In F. centralis, the inner tooth of claw is very short. Ferna paralella Wei, 2006 has ventral side of body nearly entirely white. In the new species, the yellow colour in ventral side is restricted only to abdominal stemites. Penis valve with oblique highly sclerotised line and long caudal projection which are missing in the new species.
