Abstract: Following to the recent revision of Prous et al. (2014) new name is proposed for Pachynematus hungaricus Haris, 2001

According to the paper of Prous et al. (2014) titled The genera of Nematinae (Hymenoptera, Tenthredinidae) published in the Journal of Hymenoptera Research, the following genera were synonymised under the genus Euura Newman, 1837: Cryptocampus Hartig, 1837, Evura Agassiz, 1848, Pontania Costa, 1852, syn. n., Epitactus Förster, 1854, syn. n., Amauronematus Konow, 1890, syn. n., Holcocneme Konow, 1890, syn. n., Pachynematus Konow, 1890, syn. n., Holcocnema Schulz, 1906, syn. n., Holcocnemis Konow, 1907, syn. n., Pteronidea Rohwer, 1911, syn. n., Pontopristia Malaise, 1921, syn. n., Brachycoluma Strand, 1929, syn. n., Decanematus Malaise, 1931, syn. n., Pikonema Ross, 1937, syn. n., Phyllocolpa Benson, 1960, syn. n., Eitelius Kontuniemi, 1966, syn. n., Gemmura E.L. In this way, Pachynematus hungaricus Haris, 2001 would fall into homonymy with Euura hungarica (Enslin, 1918) originally described as Pontania hungarica Enslin, 1918. (Haris 2001, Roller and Haris 2008, Enslin 1918).

The present status of Euura hungarica (Enslin, 1918) is a junior synonym of Pontania (Eupontania) viminalis (Linné, 1758).

To avoid confusion and/or homonymy, hereby, we suggest to change the name of Pachynematus hungaricus Haris, 2001 to Euura pannonica (Haris, 2001) as replacement name for Pachynematus hungaricus Haris, 2001.
