Natura Somogyiensis 19 177-200 Kaposvár, 2011 Checklist of Hungarian Sphecidae and Apidae species (Hymenoptera, Sphecidae and Apidae) ZSOLT JÓZAN H-7453 Mernye Rákóczi út 5., Hungary JÓZAN , Zs.: Checklist of Hungarian Sphecidae and Apidae species (Hymenoptera, Sphecidae and Apidae). Abstract: Checklist of Hungarian sphecoid wasps (Sphecidae) and bees (Apidae). 306 Sphecidae and 704 Apidae species are listed. Species, which were collected 50 years or earlier, treated as extinct species. I have not seen voucher specimen of the following species: Halictus varipes, Halictus carinthiacus, Hylaeus hungaricus, Osmia hybrida, Osmia versicolor, Sphecodes hungaricus, Sphecodes schencki and Sphecodes sareptensis. These species are not listed. Belomicroides fergusoni (Sphecidae), Andrena pyropvgia, Halictus cochlearitarsis, Melitta wankowiczi and Osmia scutellaris are first records for Hungary. Keywords: Hymenoptera, Sphecidae, Apidae, checklist, Hungary Introduction The first checklist of the Hungarian Aculeata species were published by Sándor Mocsáry ( MOCSÁRY 1897). It was later revised and also completed in the Catalogus Hymenopterorum and also in the books of the Fauna Hungáriáé series. In the last decades, intensive research program was organised to explore the fauna of the Hungarian national parks and nature protection areas. Most of the voucher specimens are deposited in the collection of the Hungarian Natural History Museum. Beyond the Hungarian Natgural History Museum others museums in the countryside took part in the research programs or even organised their own programms as well (Savaria Museum Szombathely, Somogy County Museum, Kaposvár, Bakony Natural Histtory Museum Zirc, Janus Pannonius Museum Pécs and Mátra Museum in Gyöngyös). I participated in these programms and recorded numerous new species for the Hungarian fauna (Bakony Mountains, Őrség, Mecsek Hills, Villány Hills, Mátra Mountains, Zselic Hills). Dr. Lajos Tanács investigated the valley of River Theis (Tisza in Hungarian) while Dr. Pál Benedek the catchment area of the Tapolca Brook. The results were published in several papers: BENEDEK 1970, 1979, JÓZAN 1971, 1983, 1985, 1990a, 1990b, 1993, 1996, 1998, 2000a, 2000b, 2001, 2002a, 2002b, 2002c, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, TANÁCS 1975, 1979, TANÁCS & JÓZAN 1985, 1993, 1999. The voucher specimens of these researches are deposited in the private collection of the author and also in the collection of the Bakony Natural Histtory Museum and in that of the Somogy County Museum. Although Apidae fauna of the Bakony Mountains is still unpublished, the collected species are also included in the list. Four species are first records for Hungary: Belomicroides fergusoni (Sphecidae), Andraena pyropvgia, Halictus coclearitarsis, Melitta wankowiczi, Osmia scutellaris (Apidae).
