Tóth Sándor: A Látrányi Puszta Természetvédelmi Terület szitakötő (Odonata) faunája - Dragonfly (Odonata) fauna of the Látrányi Puszta Nature Conservation Area

TÓTH S.: SZITAKÖTŐK (ODONATA) 97 Dragonfly (Odonata) fauna of the Látrányi Puszta Nature Conservation Area SÁNDOR TÓTH The territory of Látrány Puszta Nature Conservation Area is largely dominated by terrestrial habitats. Besides minor, mostly temporary wet patches and streams, the only creek that is suitable for sustaining the development of dragonfly larvae (apart from other water organisms) is the Tetves stream (featured by permanent waterflow) running alongside the borderline of the area. The occurrence of 22 dragonfly taxa were proved in the course of several surveys conducted more or less regularly in the area. 16 (7 Zygoptera, 9 Anisoptera) out of those species are proved to belong to the fauna of Tetves stream. The 7 protected species that accounts for 37% of the recorded dragonfly fauna proves preciousness of the fauna in themselves. It is worth mentioning that the area proves to be a first class habitat from biotope classification perspective as well. Among the taxa of Odonata fauna, the following species can be highlighted as significant: Onychogomphua forcipatus that shows a rather sparse occurrence nation-wide, Libellula fulva that also occurs rarely, and Somatochlora aenea. Apart from these, Agrion virgo is worth mentioning, a species mainly featuring highlands that was reported only from certain habitats of Somogy County so far (primarily from the River Drava).
