Lökkös Andor: A Látrányi Puszta Természetvédelmi Terület cincérfaunája (Coleoptera:Cerambycidae) - The cerambycid fauna of the Látrányi Puszta Nature Conservation Area (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae)

178 NATURA SOMOGYIENSIS The longhorn beetle fauna of the Látrányi Puszta Nature Conservation Area (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) ANDOR LÖKKÖS The Látrányi Puszta Nature Conservation Area is situated 20 km from Lake Balaton in Hungary. The area comprises a mosaic of several types of habitats, ranging from dry to wet: arid and sandy grasslands, wet meadows, marshy meadows and riverine mowed fields alongside streamlets, wood patches of alder and oak trees, and pine tree plantations. The number of horn beetle species found on the surveyed area is 47, which represents 21% of the Hungarian fauna. This number is relatively low, but considering the extremely small size of the area, its flat dimensions, and the size of the forest vegetation in the area, and the intensity of sampling, this figure does not seem so poor any more. A minor section of the area is covered by woods; the major part is covered by sandy grasslands, fresh and marshy meadows. The number of species living on lower vegetation is 10, while the number of species dwelling in the trees and bushes is 34. It is especially important to protect and sustain black dogwood (Rhamnus) since it provides habitat for the larvae of a rather rare horn beetle (Menesia bipunctata). In the pine tree plantation of the protected area, 6 species (one of them is protected) were collected. It is highly probable, that the number of species can be considerably increased by a more intensive research. Among the rare species it is worth mentioning Leptura aurulenta, Stenhomalus bicolor, Acanthocinus griseus, Menesia bipunctata. The protected species are: Acanthocinus aedilis, Oberea pedemontana and Calamobius filum.
