Dr. Kéri Nagy Béla: Barcs — Krím-félsziget — Barcs. Életkép Márkus Sándor oroszországi hadifogságából BÉLA KÉRI NAGY, DR. BARCS - CRIMEA - BARCS THE LIFE OF SÁNDOR MÁRKUS IN THE RUSSIAN CAPTIVITY FROM 1944 DECEMBER TO 1948 JULY SUMMARY The World War II not only caused more million people's death, but also the beaten countries suffered because of the retorsion after the war. The biggest human and financial damage was caused in Soviet-Union, which because of this wanted to get not only war damage compensation from the defeated countries but also labour force from them. The restoration work was made by the prisoners of war and by the the people who were carried off by force. The "malenkij robot" was practiced without any human and legal base and with the silent agreement of the confederate countries. Sándor Márkus only accidentally got to the transport like this and because of this he had to spend three years in the Crimean Jalta in a work camp. From his memories we get to know better the everyday life of a work camp: the severe circumstances and the only exactly sufficient supply, the hard work or the rare moments of relaxation. From the lot of tenthousand comrades in misfortune he was lucky to survive the work camp and could return back home to his family. 257
