Prologue

PROLOGUE There is no greater pleasure for the editors than grappling with the joyous difficulties when they can bring the packet of the new manuscripts to the printing house. We present the third volume of our essay-collection to the Dear Readers. This fact confirms our expectation that beside the authors' intention there is also claim to publish the issues of our museum workshop. In accordance with the acknowledgements our previous volumes were well received not only in the ring of the curious readers but in the society of the professions too. In our 2005 annuals we selected interesting essays from the fields of ethnography, archeology, historical and the natural sciences again. Since the establishment of our institution in 1979 we have been attributing great importance to the ethnographical and the ethnical research considering that Bares and its region is also populated by ethnic minorities. The experts of ethnography and history treated a common theme and now they shed light on the history of the German group of south Somogy county in a new approach. We would like to continue our ethnic-series in the coming year with publishing our essays about the Croatian people in the south part of Somogy county. There are no direct relationship between the essays which are about the archeological, entomological and malacological subjects to our main topic but they still have place in this volume because these projects generally publish slightly known data from unknown regions. Some of them were already issued in special professional publications but they are scarcely known in the reading public. Our author deals with a supressed theme which was a taboo for a long time presenting a political show trial against innocent students. We continue our series which is dealing with the old folk dances from Somogy too. We have an opinion that our three years old initiative to issue this book is mature by now and it became an expected factor in the life of Dráva Museum and it represents the outcomes of the workshops of our nearby region in a worthily way.
