János Botka, who is a retired teacher and an excellent scientist does important research in malacology. His research in our region is very unique because no one else observed the river Dráva before from malacologistic point of view. This year the author continues his series about malacology, now doing research on the area of the way-station called "Barcs-felső"(^ Upper-Bares) about the loess snail-fauna. The observed area is a steep part of the previous bank of river Drava. The former surface deeply changed its characteristics, the reasons were mainly weather and climatic conditions, the river's erosion and the régularisation of the river in the 18 and 19 centuries.
