Az egyetemi hallgatók és felhívásukra a pesti tanintézetek „tömegesen" jelentek meg a temetésen. Égő fáklyákkal állták körül a ravatalt. A halottas ház előtt Réti Gyula, a sírnál Dolinái Gyula joghallgató mondott búcsúzó beszédet. Egykorú beszámoló szerint „a temetés nagyszerűsége olyan volt, minőnél fényesebbet Batthyány temetése óta nem látott a főváros... A hosszú menet a nagy közönség élőfala között vonult a sírkertbe." Ott volt a kor minden nagy írója, a családtagok, de az egész temetést az ifjúság rendezte. Petőfi Zoltánt az édesanyja mellé temették; oda, „hova képzeletünk helyezi még a kis család harmadik tagjának áldott porait is. Az emlékezet örök táblájára pedig együtt fogjuk bevésni neveiteket" — hangzottak az ifjúság szónokának végső mondatai. (A tanulmány készítésének valószínűsíthető dátuma 1970?) Károly Mezősi: SMALLER PETŐFI — STUDIES We are publishing here six smaller studies (partly printed irr local newspapers) from the bequest of the late author died in 1971. In these papers Károly Mezősi deals with some hardly known details of the famous Hungarian poet, Sándor Petőfi's (1823—1849) life and activity. The first study in memóriám of the 15oth anniversary of the poet, s birth is dealing with the history of the Petőfi-filology and publishing the opinions of sveral representatives of the Hungarian cultural life besides some laical remembrances as well. The second one clears up the circumstances and story of an unknown manuscript which was not buried with the poet's widow in spite of some informations and which was later found at Nagykőrös. The third paper is dealing with the poet's wife, Julia Szendrey's biography, refuting the charges with which the contemporaries and posterity had abused her. The chapter titled „Petőfi's Vienna Dossier" clears up the circumstances of the poet's death on the battlefield on the ground of some first published papers of the Vienna Secret Agency. The study „Chase beyond the grave" is dealing with the legends concerning the death or perhaps the capture of the beloved poet. These were common among the people in the second half of the 19th. century. The legends regarding the capture or hide out of the poet were seriously controlled by the Vienna Secret Agency. The last paper commemorates the tragic life of the poet's son, the early died Zoltán Petőfi. 332
