h centuries AD] A family graveyard of the Hun period at Budakalász (8th/7th century BC- tote 1 st century jjjdWH (454-568AD) (568-811/829 AD) (130Ы526/1686) (400-454 AD) Five inhumation burials of the Hun period were uncovered at a depth of 1.5 meters in the gravel of the Danube bank by Budakalász, in an area called Csajerszke along the northern sector of the MO Ring Road. It would appear that the north to south oriented graves contained the burials of one family: a man, a woman and three girls. Clay or glass vessels were placed by the head of the deceased. The man wore a belt fastened with an iron buckle; suspended from his belt were an iron dagger and a pouch fastened with a bronze buckle containing flintstones and iron tools. The woman and one of the girls wore a bone comb in their hair. All three child burials contained a necklace, one of which had an amber bead, a bronze pendant and perforated Roman coins strung among the beads. One 4. girl wore a pair of polyhedral earrings. The small silver buckles found in the burials indicate that not only men, but also women and children wore a belt and a pouch. None of the burials contained brooches. The graves can be dated to the earlier or mid-5th century on the testimony of the grave goods. The deceased were probably members of a Germanic group driven from their former homeland by the Huns or living under their dominion. • Katalin Ottómányi 1. Pair of polyhedral earrings 2.
