(2700/2500-800 ВС) Settlement remains from the Late Bronze Age were identified on both banks of the Benta Stream in 2004, while burials of the Urnfield culture came to light on the southern side in an area called Simonpusztai-dűlő. Some 230 features were uncovered altogether. Finds indicating Bronze Age occupation were found over the entire hillside, often among the finds recovered from later Roman and Árpádian Age ditches and pits. The most frequent settlement remains were pits of various function, a scatter of clay extraction pits, some ditches and a few round houses with plastered clay floor built around a wooden framework. Most houses had a low bench along the walls and various pits in their centre. The finds were dominated by pottery, although a few bronze pins also came to light. In addition to clay spindle whorls, loom weights and net sinkers, semi-finished bone skates and a high number of animal bones were also recovered. The urn burials formed a separate cluster in the south-western part of the investigated area. Most burials contained two to three vessels. Bowls were often used to cover the urn, which sometimes contained a bronze ring, a pin or a bracelet in addition to the ashes. The pottery from the burials of the Urnfield culture ranged from bowls decorated with bosses and channelling and vessels with a facetted rim to two-handled biconical urns with channelled shoulder, small cups and pots decorated with finger impressed ribs, as well as sherds from black or brown polished vessels.
