This volume offers an overview of the archaeological excavations preceding the many construction projects in County Pest over the

past two decades. Presented here are the sites discovered and investigated as part of the salvage excavations conducted by the Directorate of the County Pest Museums preceding the construction of the MO Ring Road, the M5 and M6 Motorways, Road 4 and the Vác bypass of Road 2, as well as the excavations conducted before the construction of apartment buildings and industrial parks, and the archaeological work supported by the local municipal and county councils, such as the research of the Roman military fort at Szentendre and of the medieval town and castle of Vác.

The descriptions of the excavations are presented in chronological sequence from the Neolithic to the Ottoman period. Each is ^ accompanied by many photos of both the excavation itself and the finds brought to light in order to provide a sense of archaeological work. It is our hope that both the broader public and our colleagues will find something of interest in this book.
