Glazed bowl bearing a monogram (IHS), candlestick, beer mug and bronze bowl from the Ottoman period 10. Yellow clay floor and its burnt, sooty surface in the medieval house Similar sunken huts and their ovens from the early Árpádian Age (1 Oth—11 th century) were uncovered in 2006 in Múzeum Street, lying in the one-time Hungarian quarter. A deep well was dug on the spot of an earlier house, which had long perished by then and become infilled. Dug into a sandy soil, the 15th century well was carefully lined with stones. It remained in use until the close of the Ottoman period, when it was infilled and its sides and rim of carved stones were demolished. Lying a little farther from the well was a refuse pit from the Ottoman period, which in addition to refuse also contained five human bodies. Two unhealed cuts could be noted on the shoulder-blade of one skeleton. The deceased had been thrown into the pit without any costume accessories, suggesting that they had been robbed. They were perhaps the victims of one of the sieges during the 16th—17th centuries. • • Zoltán Batizi
