(6100-4500 ВС) (4500-2700 ВС) (2700/2500-800 ВС) The section of a Conquest period cemetery came to light at Soroksár in 1999 during the excavations preceding the laying of new gas-pipes. The position of the six burials did not jM have any apparent regularity. Two were probably sym- J0 bolic burials since they did not contain any human ЖШшШ remains. The dead were interred in an extended H position laid on the back in two graves, while one was laid to rest with the knees drawn up Щ and the hands laid across the chest, suggesting that the deceased had been wrapped in ' a shroud since there were no traces of either a coffin or any other wooden structure. Two burials contained grave goods: one grave yielded an arrowhead and an iron knife, the # other, the burial of a wealthier woman, con- %% tained two openwork bronze braid ornaments V adorned with stylised griffins, three penannular \ «I bronze bracelets with pointed terminals, a cockle V shell, glass beads decorated with inlaid wavy lines, glass eye beads, a rattle, a ball button and seven cowry > shells. The grave can be dated to the late 10th/early 11th century. • Edit Tari 1 2 3 4 1. Ball button, rattle fragment and beads from the woman's burial 2. Cast bronze openwork braid ornament 3.
