The Sankt Gallen plan no doubt suggested the ideal state of affairs for medieval monasteries and it cannot have been too far removed from the actual practice in these monasteries and it cannot have been too far removed from the actual practice in these monasteries. However, there is practically no evidence as to what extent this was realised in the monasteries of Hungary. The currently known finds from monastery excavations probably do not reflect the entire range of cultivated plants and neither do they offer a detailed picture of the economy. The full analysis of the finds from the well at Szer will no doubt enrich our knowledge of monastery economy.
