Mednyánszky László: Füzes tehenekkel, 1880 körül Olaj, vászon 40 x60 cm Jelezve jobbra lent: Mednyánszky Magyar Nemzeti Galéria, Budapest, leltári szám: 55.295 Bármennyire meglepő, ez az 1880 körül festett tájkép nem Barbizonban készült. Pedig határozott azonosságot mutat mind Théodore Rousseau, mind Constant Troyon hasonló témájú, erdőbelsőt ábrázoló tájképeivel. A perspektívát teljesen lezáró dús vegetáció keltette nyomasztó érzést a patak és a köves patakpart fényjárta kövei oldják fel, megnyitva a kép előterét a szemnek, de nem a lábnak. Mednyánszky képe nem öleli körül a nézőt, aki a kép terén kívül maradva, egy semleges látlatot kap. A természet inkább távoli, a teheneket őrző parasztasszony alakja beleolvad a fák sűrűjébe, lehetetlenné téve az azonosulást. A Mednyánszky-tájképekre később jellemző misztikus hangulat itt még csak nyomokban van jelen. Or, il dévoile une nette ressemblance avec les paysages du cœur de la forêt du même thème de Théodore Rousseau tout 4 comme de Constant Troyon. Les pierres traversées de lumière du ruisseau et de sa rive pierreuse dissolvent le sentiment oppressant suscité par la luxuriante végétation qui enferme entièrement la perspective, en ouvrant le premier plan aux yeux, mais non aux jambes. Le tableau de Mednyánszky n'embrasse pas le spectateur qui, confiné à l'extérieur de l'espace du tableau, reçoit une vision neutre. La nature reste plutôt lointaine, la forme d'une paysanne gardant les vaches se fond dans l'épaisseur des arbres, empêchant toute identification. L'atmosphère mystique qui caractérisera plus tard les paysages de Mednyánszky n'est ici encore présente que dans les traces de pas. Despite this, it shows remarkable similarity to both Théodore Rousseau's and Camile Troyon's similarly themed landscapes, depicting the interior of a forest. The heavy feeling created by the lush vegetation, which completely shuts off the perspective, is diluted by the stream and the illuminated rocks along it, opening up the foreground of the painting to the eye but not the feet. Mednyánszky's painting does not embrace the viewer, who remains outside the space depicted and gets a neutral view. Nature seems far away, and the figure of the peasant woman keeping a watch over the cows blends into the thick of the trees, making it impossible to identify with her. There are only traces of the mystic atmosphere typical of later Mednyánszky landscapes.
