Kocsis István - The painter, his altarpiece and his Stations of the Cross (Excerpts)

Start walking on the Narrow Way, on the Way of the Lord Jesus. But only those can enter the Gate who have conquered time and space... What should I say? Yes, the victory over time and space... It's so easy to talk about this. But can I really understand it? Let's try it anyway. It is not easy. What do we have to do if we want to comprehend all what is incomprehensible for our twentieth-century minds 7 First, we must not confuse the perceptible, observable cosmos with the invisible Heavens, which are perceptible only to the initiate. Why do we confuse the visible cosmos with the Heavens? This is because we compare everything to the visible world. Confessions of the Great Visionaries come to my mind. That of Socrates, for example, related by Plato. How did Socrates characterize the superior world, the Heavens? What is the 'earth' like where Socrates believed to arrive after drinking the poison? It is very strange that Socrates talked a lot about some 'rivers' in the last hours of his life, in such a strange way... What kind of unbelievable'river-system', what kind of other curiosities did he talk about? Are they from the cosmos? Obviously, what Socrates meant, is not a part of the visible cosmos (which belongs to our material world), but of the invisible superior world, the Heavens. The laws of physical existence are not va'id there. It is possible to get over to that world, although not in our time and space, but through the victory over our time and space. That world is inaccessible by spaceship, but it can be found in meditation. I look at the altarpiece, at the Stations of the Cross, and I put the question again: Is it possible to step out of our time and space? Is it possible to conquer time and space? Will Paulovics's pictures give me an answer? Those who conquered time and space, can see what remains invisible for the others. They are not bound by the limits of time and space anymore. They can see the invisible and incomprehensible World, where the physical laws of Earth are not valid. Where time and space cease to exist, where the Way of Light, which is not visible to the human eye, the Way itself, leading to the Creator becomes perceptible and passable. How can we understand this? What does the altarpiece suggest? What do the pictures of the mystery play suggest? I look at the pictures and I can hear: The Lord Jesus requests the human being to choose Life instead of a life. To become who they were before the Fall. To rise up to the original human status, to help their spiritual part win within themselves; and to become real human beings by conquering themselves. (...)
