Barki Gergely - Gulyás Gábor: Újragondolt Czóbel. A szentendrei Czóbel Múzeum állandó kiállítása (Szentendre, 2016)
Originally purchased by the Museum, the Czóbel Collection’s holding of 30 works was expanded by 27 paintings in 1974, courtesy of the Ministry of Culture. In 1975, Béla Czóbel donated 35 paintings and 30 graphic works. With his 1975 will, the artist left 40 paintings and 844 graphic works to the Hungarian state, along with the furnishings of his studio and his tools. In 1995, thanks to the will of Lisa Czóbel, the artist’s daughter, who lived abroad, a few more paintings and graphic works were added to the collection. Though the resulting corpus became one of the most complete selections of Czóbel’s work, it is the artist's late period that is highlighted most comprehensively. Over the decades, the Museum’s core collection was further enriched by donations and purchases, and it now includes 160 paintings and more than 1000 graphic works. While the permanent exhibition of the Czóbel Museum cannot provide an in-depth view of this exceptionally rich oeuvre, its major periods are nonetheless aptly illustrated by the works in the Ferenczy Museum Center’s collection, along with pieces deposited here from time to time. 521 Fekvő nő (Szentendrei Vénusz) | Reclining Woman (Venus of Szentendre) 11968
