Résumé Time present and time past Are both perhaps present in time future, And time future contained in time past. If all time is eternally present All time is unredeemable. T.S. Eliot The Barcsay Prize was established by the great Hungarian painter Jenő Barcsay’s sister called Erzsiké in 1989. At the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, two decisions are made every year: the Barcsay Award goes to students of the university, whereas the Barcsay Prize is awarded to painters who had already graduated. The present exhibition provides an opportunity to all Barcsay Prize-winning painters to show their works. Although it is not possible to give a comprehensive overview of the past 25 years, the exhibition attempts to evoke the unique atmosphere of this period by displaying the past and present works of the winners.
