English Summaries Tamás Szolnoki The Results of the Excavation of the Castle Hill in Csabdi-Vasztélypuszta The archaeological site is situated in the northern part of Fejér County, along the middle part of the László Stream, south from the village called Csabdi, on the northern edge of the 215-metre high Castle Hill (Várdomb) that stretches in a North-South direction. Previous archaeological investigations first took place in 1899 and in 1980, the latter being obviously more accurate in terms of scientific standards. Following the preparation of a detailed site survey in 1996, the 1997-1998 archaeological campaign was organized by Mihály Kulcsár and György Terei. The castle was surrounded by a double trench running on the southern side of the top of the Castle Hill. Within the fortified area, the excavations recovered traces of two wattle and daub structures. In addition to a large amount of archaeo-botanical finds and archaeo-zoological remains, potteries dating from the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries and iron objects were also found in a significant amount, which date the construction and the use of the castle to the second half of the thirteenth and the first half of the fourteenth century. However, a Viennese silver pfennig of Duke Frederick the Fair (1314—1330) was found in the destruction layer, which might date the destruction of the castle to the beginning of the fourteenth century. 465
