(Summary)

Lajos Lóska gives an overview of the exhibitions of the last decades of the twentieth century and analyses the activity of the most important artists of Szentendre in the given period.

For the painters, sculptors, graphic artists of the new millennium the ever changing and renewing artistic mentality of Szentendre might be the example to be followed. Even more, as this art, reaching another new period in 1989, is not at all in a promising situation. Following the fall of the Socialist regime, the political and economic changes of the 2990's have not created a better situation for the arts and artists. Nevertheless, the purpose is clear - to (re)turn the town from a mere tourist attraction to a town of arts and artists again. To be something as it used to be before 1945 and then following World War II, during the activity of Béla Czóbel, János Kmetty and Jenő Barcsay, as it could be in the late sixties, at the time of the birth of Pál Deim's style, or in the first two decades of the existence of Lajos Vajda Studio.
