Hír János: A Cricetodontini nemzetség evolúciója a Kárpát-medencében

JÁNOS HÍR EVOLUTION OF THE CRICETODONTINI TRIBUS IN THE CARPATHIAN BASIN Cricetodontini (Rodentia) are common elements of the Miocene vertebrate fossil record from Europe, Asia and Africa. The species divesity, as well as the morphological plasticity of the tribe is indicative of biostratigraphical and palaeooecological changes. In France and in Spain the study of Cricetodontini has a long tradition from the 19th century (e.g., LARTET 1851). In sharp contrast, the early and middle Miocene sedimentation in the Carpathian Basin is represented mainly by marine complexes. As a result, the limnic, marshy and lagoon deposits, which are bedded into these marine sections, had not been seen as relevant by vertebrate palaeontologists. The first Cricetodontini were found from the kar- stic fissure fillings of „Neudorf Spalte” =Devinská Nová Vés close to Bratislava/Pozsony (FEJFAR 1974). Indeed, the first Cricetodontini finds from nonkarstic localities were unearthed only at the end of the 1970’s. These historical localities were Hasznos and Szentendre in Hungary (Kordos 1981,1982, 1986) and Comăneşti in Romania (Feru et al 1980). After 2000 new Cricetodontini populations were published from North Hungarian localities Litke (HÍR 2013), Sámsonháza (HÍR & MÉSZÁROS 2002), Mátraszőlős (HÍR & KÓKAY 2004), Kozárd (HÍR 2015), Felsőtárkány-Felnémet (HÍR 2007) and from West Romania Tăşad (HÍR et al 2001) and Várciorog (HÍR et al in press). In Austria Cricetodontini were published from the Badenian of Mühlbach and Grund (DAXNER- HÖCK 2003) and from the Late Sarmatian of Gratkorn (PRIETO et al 2010). Some Hispanomys cf. bijugatus molars were reported from the earliest Pannonian of Gaweinstal and Bullendorf. Some remarks for the Cricetodontini finds studied by the author. Cricetodon meini Freudenthal 1963, Litke Detailed description was given by HÍR (2013). About 15 million years ago this species was widespread in Europe. Cricetodon hungaricus (Kordos 1986), Hasznos, Szentendre It was the only species from the Middle Badenian of Hungary. Neither KORDOS (1986) nor DE BRUIJN et al (1993) gave a detailed description of the species. This work was completed by HÍR (2017) who gave the emended diagnosis and the detailed diferenţial diagnosis. After the detailed morphological study of HÍR (2017) we can conclu359
