Mag Hella: Az egyházasgergei templom a késő középkorban

HELLA MAG THE CHURCH OF EGYHÁZASGERGE IN THE LATE MIDDLE AGES The village of Egyházasgerge is situated in Nógrád country, near the city Salgótarján. The church of the village has a nave and a poligonal apse. It has the same width and almost the same length as the nave. The sacristy connected to the north side of the nave. The apse originally was vaulted and has gothic windows. The church has renaissance details too, for example the doorframe of the sacristy and a very unique and famous detail: a renaissance pastophorium which can be found on the north wall of the apse. We can find this work in many articles and books, but the building was not in the very intrest of the former researchers. Probably the church has its origins at least in the first half of 14th century, as the written sources mentions. Prom this time only the nave could survive today with two small windows on the south side. Nothing more is known about this building. After that, at the turn of the 15-16th centuires this former church was extended eastward. Probably the former apse was demolished and a bigger one was constructed instead - that could be seen today with its gothic and renaissance detalis. This article dealt with this buliding period. According to the inscription of the pastophorium, this detail - and probably the whole apse - was constructed before 1503 and was dedicated to the parents of László Liptai, who was the orderer of the work. Art historical researches shows that the lunette of the pastophorium in Egyházasgerge is in strong connection and was carved in the same workshop as one of the huge renaissance tabernacles in the so called Belvárosi Plébániatemplom in Pest, the Nagyrévi-tabernacle. Clearly seen that the other gothic and renaissance structures in Egyházasgerge - the vault, the windows and probably the doorframe of the sacristy - were constructed not in this workshop, but they could be made in the same time. Until today there were no archeoligical research in or around the buliding, so this study could be a base for such researches in the future. 281
