ZUBOVITS FEDOR AS A LITERARY HERO - THE LITERARY ASPECTS OF HIS LIFE AND AFTERLIFE

In my present study I would like to show how Zubovits Fedor cavalryman’s adver- turous life had an effect on the polite literature. (Not in the view of history of literature.) I collected those creations in cohich the hero's character is shaped about Zubovits or he is the hero as well. I was succesful in collecting several literary works from the versification o fan rhymester through the pulp fictions to the 19th and the 20th century recognised authors' work.

The first hah of the study shows the works appeared when Zubovits Fedor was alived. Among others, tarp guides, poems of Hazafy Verái János, who was a famous rhymester in thet era-, the narratives of Mikszáth Kálmán, Krúdy Gyula and Herczeg Ferenc.

In the second half of my study I examine Zubovits Fedor’s afterlife throgh the titer- ary works appeared after his death. In that era (in the years of 1920s, 1930s) verse works, narratives, radio lectures and novels were published as well.

Zubovits Fedor was a talented publicist and had a friendly contact with several authors and journalist. It might have contributed that he became a „literary hero”.

The time of his death almost concurs with the end of the 19th century happy peac- time and with the end of the Austrian-Humgarian Monarchy.

The nostalgic retrospection into the „old word” is perceptible in Krúdy Gyula's works.

The renaissance of the stories about Zubovits Fedor was between the two World Wars Zubovits authoritarian personality, his absolute loyalty for the Monarchy and his resistance in the period of Hungarian Sovjet Republic might have cotributed to this.
