LAJOS GULÁCSY’S DEPICTION OF WOMEN IN THE FINE ART COLLECTION OF THE BÉLA DORNYAY MUSEUM

In her study the author tries to demonstrate some characteristic features of the portrayal of the Woman in the art of Lajos Gulácsy with some of the works in the possession of the Béla Dornyay Museum.

Throughout his life, Gulácsy was prevented by selfish, possessive love of his mother to enter into relations with real women. He created two types of women in his literary works, paintings and drawings instead: the demonic woman and the mystic girl in white clothes. This essay deals with the depiction of these two types of women.
