Művészettörténet - K. Peák Ildikó: Egy gyűjtő portréja (Mihályfi Ernőről)

NEOGRAD 2012 • A DORNYAY BÉLA .MÚZEUM ÉVKÖNYVE XXXVI. Portrait of an Art Collector (Ernő Mihályfi) by Ildikó K. Peák The paper is about Ernő Mihályfi, the journalist, publicist and politician and at the same time famous art collector, the founder of the ’Mihályfi’ art collection of the Béla Dornyay Museum. The legacy of almost 800 pieces contains primarily the works of the representatives of Hungarian visual arts between the two world wars, among others works by Gyula Derkovits, Bertalan Pór, Károly Kernstok, Béla Czóbel. The author seeks to answer how the collector’s personality is related to the nature, theme, style of the artworks in the collection and the value system represented by them. It also deals with Mihályfi’s publicistic writings on art and refers to the inner duality of the committed left-wing cultural politician and the educated art collector. 266
