NEOGRAD 2010 • A NOGRAD MEGYEI ZEUMOK ÉVKÖNYVÉ XXXIV. Wessels Wilma—Reumer Barbara: Democricetodon and Megacricetodon (Mammalia, Cricetidae) from the Miocene of Sandelzhausen, Southern Germany. In: Paläontologische Zeitschrift, 83 (1): 187—205. Frankfurt a M., 2009 The fossil Rodents of the late Badenian (MN 7/8) paleovertebrate locality Mátraszőlős 3. by János Hír The village Mátraszőlős is situated on the right side of the Zagyva Valley, close to the town Pásztó. „Terrestric Sarmatian” sediments were mapped in the surroundings of the village at the beginning of the 20th century. The best exposure of this series is found in the Northern margin of the settlement, close to the Rákóczi Chapel. The intensive sampling of the fossiliferous sediments has been going on since 1998. Up to the year 2000 two localities were studied: Mátraszőlős 1. and Mátraszőlős 2. The results were published in a series of publications. The different groups of finds were elaborated by specialists. The locality Mátraszőlős 3. was tested during the spring of 2008. The intensive sampling took place in 2009. 2000 kg samples were collected and washed. This publication gives the results of the study on the fossil Rodent material. The special characters of the Mátraszőlős 3. fauna are the presence of flying squirrels. The new small sized Democricetodon finds can be classified as Democricetodon cf. brevis. The Megacricetodon material was determined as Megacricetodon cf. minutus. The Cricetodon molar is more hypsodont than the earlier described finds from Mátraszőlős, Hasznos and Sámsonháza. The biochronological classification of the Mátraszőlős faunas can be conserved as MN 7/8, late Badenian. 234
