Természettudomány - Prakfalvi Péter: Jobbágyi környékének földtani, vízföldtani és őslénytani érdekességei
PÉTER PRAKFALVI Geological, hydrogeological and paleontological curiosities of the surroundings at Jobbagyi Remarkable curiosities of the Jobbagyi region (Northern Hungary, Nograd County) were studied and elaborated by the author. Ali of them are connected with the geological past and known from the literaure. Those are scarcely represented in the memory of the local dwellers. The historical data of the studied localities and exposures were collected by the author. The collected informations were analysed in the relation of the modern geological studies. Open cast andésite mines are found in the piedmont of the Nagy - Harsas Hill exposuring différent kind of rocks produced by a submarine stratovulcanic activity 15 -16 miliőn years ago. These mines had been worked from the 1850s for 100 years. During the 1940s a water exploration borehole was deepened at Jobbagyi producing minerai water with C02. The exact location of the well was difficult to identify in the so called "Szilvas -kert". The identification was possible only after the help of local persons (e.g. Mr. Andor Nogrady) having special knowledge because the documentation of the borehole was inadéquat. During the 1890s a mammoth cemetery was discovered at the slope of the Var Hill caused great excitement. During the time this locality was complettely forgottén. It was rediscovered by the help of a local teacher -Mr. Ferenc Lendvaiand his students. The 30 000-40 000 years old bones are worth to excavate in spite of the badly preserved status. As a conclusion the author stressed the importance of the parochialism as an important source of the scientific activity. The author suggested the touristic présentation of the studied geological objects. 47
