In case of Amblycoptus species M" is always missing that is why this one is the last tooth of the maxilla. It is very reduced, like M" of other Soricidae species. It is a significantly différent character from the very similar A. topali M' , that this one is more reduced and its form is not a frustum, but a complète triangle. The relatively quite deep trigone basin is bordered by not two much striking, but visible protocone, metacone and paracone. Buccaly from the paracone there is a long parastyle becoming thinner, as we can see it at A. topali. - Ii - Fragmentary crowns of 2 left and 4 right teeth, which are acuspulate. The apex is sharp and a little up turnéd. In dorsal view the tooth is slightly concave, because it turns toward the medial direction. - A2 - Only the fragment of the crown of one left tooth is présent, but it is well visible to be unicuspid. Its large paraconid is softly turnéd. - Mi - 1 left and 2 right teeth. The margins are very eroded. Well developed paraconid, protoconid and metaconid border the perfectly trigonal trigonid basin. The talonid basin is also deep, the hypoconid and entoconid are projecting. We can see a small entoconid crest in front of the entoconid. There is a little entostylid in medio-posterial direction from the entoconid. - M2 - One right tooth. It is very similar to the previous one, but it is only half in size. Its reduced size is because of its final position in the mandible. Remarks: In case of separated teeth it is very hard to segregate two similar species, notably A. oligodon and A. topali (described by Jánossy 1972). Whereas main différent characters are not studiable on Ii, A2, Mi and M 2, by the opinion of the author thèse may be determined on the basis of présent and determinable M , because the two species can be never found together in the same locality. We can conclude them to be A. oligodon remains also from their measurements, as we can see in the following table and Fig. 4. Idea of graphical séparation by TRW came from Jánossy (1972). 172
