of the Mi is variable. On the fig. 10-11. the extreme variations are figured only. The individuals with "Oeconomus morphology" (Fig. 11.) was determinen as Microtus (Chionomys) gud before (SPITZENBERGER F. 1971; STORCH G. 1988). Recently the présence of M gud in the Toros Mountains is refuted by NADACHOWSKY A. (1990) on the basis of dental features. Spécimens previously included to the mentioned taxon belong to a new subspecies M. nivalis spitzenbergerae. In the Meydan matériái there are 2Mi belong to this new subspecies undoubtedly. Microtus arvalis - socialis - guentheri gr. The matériái is not available for the correct séparation of thèse species. The meydan fauna contains predominantly species associated by the high mountain rocky biotope (M. nivalis, Dryomys) or marked with wide ecological tolérance (M. arvalis gr., Cricetulus, Mesocricetus, Spalax). There are somé species with lower frequency from the lower foothill régions (Apodemus gr., Crocidura, Mus, A. mystacinus). The plesitocene and holocene development of the Turkish vertebrate fauna is imperfectly known. That's what the investigations of the fossil -subfossil materials are important.
