The middle Eocene flora of Tatabánya (“marl mine”, N Hungary) Erdei, Boglárka The middle Eocene fossil plant assemblage from Tatabánya (N Hungary) comprises plant remains preserved mostly as impressions. Remains of angiosperms comprise Lauraceae (Laurophyllum div. sp.), Rhamnaceae {Zizyphus zizyphoides), Fagaceae (?Eo trigono bakin us furcinervis), Anacardiaceae, Leguminosae, Palmae. The absence of gymnosperms is indicative of a floristic similarity to the coeval floras of Csordakút (N Hungary) and Girbou in Romania. The „szubhumidphytic” character” characteristic in the Early Oligocene Tard Clay floras and Early Palaeogene floras of Serbia/ Macedonia is well-recognizable, i.e. the occurrence of Zizyphus zizyphoides (Unger) Weyland linear coriaceous leaves with entire margin, small-leaved Leguminosae.
