Praetorian Diploma from Ács-Jegespuszta Sándor Petényi In the spring of 1990 a military diploma was found at Ács-Jegespuszta. The document was issued on 22nd February 206 for C. lulius Martinus, a member of the praetorian guards. It is supposed that the place of birth - Poetovio - is fictive and it is not the birthplace of the veteran. As to the names of the witnesses, the earlier conclusion was confirmed, viz. that contrary to the diplomas of the auxiliary troops and of the caisses, in the case of the praetorian diplomas in all instances there are seven new witnesses, the names are not repeated. At the present this is the earliest diploma in which the cohortes praetoriae obtained the title of piae vindices. Prätorianerdiplom aus Ács-Jegespuszta Sándor Petényi Im Frühjahr 1990 wurde in Ács-Jegespuszta ein Militärdiplom gefunden. Das Dokument wurde am 22. Februar 206 dem Mitglied der Prätorianergarde C. lulius Martinus ausgestellt. Das als Origo bezeichnete Poetovio ist wahrschainlich fiktiv und nicht mit dem Geburtsort des Veteranen identisch. Im Bezug auf die Namen der Zeugen hat die frühere Feststellung an Kraft gewonnen, derzufolge bei den Prätorianerdiplomen abweichend von denen der Auxiliaris-Truppen und den Classes-Diplomen immer 7 neue Zeugen auftauchen, sich die Namen nicht wiederholen. Dies ist im Augenblick das früheste Diplom, auf welchen die cohortes praetoriae das Attribut piae vindices schon bekamen. 236
