closely linked with the building of the palace of Visegrád, being built at the same time. King Vladislas II built a renaissance loggia on top of the archway on the ground floor in front of the eastern wing. The cross vaulted gothic loggia was supported by low renaissance pillars. There was a balustrade railing in front of the pillars. We know the parallels of the loggia's two known pillar capitals and Vladislas IPs buildings in Prague. The parallels of the other capitals and the balustrade are known from royal residence built by Vladislas II in Nyék, near Buda. The stone-mason studio in Nyék produced loggias and balustrades for other buildings as well: they conveyed similar stones to Simontornya in Tolna county, between 1508 and 1509, at the commission of Mózes Buzlai arch-seneschal and at the commission of palatine Imre Perényi to Siklós in Baranya county between 1507 and 1515. The loggia in Tata was probably made at this time as well although it was not carved in Nyék but at the building site which is evidenced by a balustrade column found in the castle. 113
