The inauguration of Béla Balogh's statue, 2004 (László Horváth, Gábor Benő Pogány, Mayor Mrs Lajos Botka) photo by István Csabai László Tálas: Nearly two decades in the life of a museum 1. The forefront of the building after the museum moved in. Next to the museum and the library there were six more organisations hosted in the Kossuth square build ing. 2. The photo shows the Kossuth square main entrance in the middle of the 1950's, the museum and the library had been working inside by that time. (In creating the present gate, we used this contemporary photo as well.) 3. Changing the roof and construction works in the Sólyom street front. We raised the roofing by approximately 60 em's so that we could have an attic that can be used, at the same time the ceiling was changed as well, since the wooden rafters set up in 1860 had become mouldy at places. 4. Building the present gallery 5-6. Somewhat more than a year passed between the two photos, both were taken in the inner yard of the museum, the first in October 1995, and the other in Decembel996. They both show approximately the same part under construction and then ready. 7. The statue called Tisza also suffered the reconstruction of the building. Now it is standing in Martfű in the park next to the town hall. How it got there is full of interesting details. (By István Mártsa, Munkácsy prize winner sculptor) 145
